I bought this sponge for the obvious reason that it resembled the beauty blender. I have never owned the beauty blender because it's outrageously priced, but I've always wanted to try it so I had to try out this cheap alternative. With the beauty blender and other "dupes" they've always had the option of being used when wet and that works for this sponge very well despite the instructions not mentioning it.
So the breakdown: the texture is quite firm when dry but does have some give. The tip is quite flexible and is very good at getting around the eye area (wet or dry). Using the base for applying my foundation (when dry) is not great; the sponge is so firm when it's dry that it feels like i'm softly punching myself in the face with a baby fist. Granted, my foundation will still look quite even, but my arm seriously gets tired after trying to blend thoroughly using the sponge dry! Now when the sponge is thoroughly wet (and you squeeze out the excess) it's woooonderful to apply foundation. It's much much softer, it get a tiny bit bigger in volume so it covers more area, and it doesn't get the water on your face at all. The blender does not absorb much foundation at all, only slightly, but definitely a LOT less than those white triangle sponges.
I gave it a 3/5 stars because this is best used when wet but the instructions don't talk about it. Also, I find it kind of frustrating that for the best application I need to be around a source of water (since when dry it can be annoying to apply); so if I wanted to touch up my makeup somewhere it would be more inconvenient. The last negative about this product was that unlike some of the other beauty blender dupes, this one does not allow you to roll the sponge (some people really like to roll the sponge on its side for the application) since it has a large groove in the middle.
Oh and I suppose it's worth mentioning that the blender does stain but I think that's for all of them.
Pros: Great value, great when wet, the tip is easy to use when dry and wet
Cons: difficult to use the large end when dry
Yes, I recommend this product.

I'm not sure if you have watched any informative videos on YT about beauty blenders, but they ARE suppose to be dampened before use. Almost anyone will tell you that. That is actually how you achieve the "flawless" foundation application w/o the sponge absorbing all of the product that is on your face, but instead evenly distribute it.
